Even though though there wasn’t a mother’s day in the Taisho period ( it was established during the Showa period, which is after Taisho. ) Takiko would do something special for her mother multiple times during the year. Mostly when Einosuke was too absorbed in his work & wouldn’t pay attention to them much. & after her mother had caught Tuberculosis, she would still try to do something special for her mother, when she wasn’t in pain.
The first time she started doing this was when she was six. She had noticed her father working in his study more than he usually is, & despite her mother never showing that she was longing for some of Einosuke’s attention, she could tell her mother was lonely.
She found the most beautiful flower she could find ( with the help of their housekeeper ), gave it to her mother & told her “Mama, don’t be lonely, you have me.” Takiko was rewarded with a hug & a tearful, yet happy Yoshie.
headcanon about stars
Since her journey began, Takiko has appreciated the stars more. She looks up at the night sky every night and admire their beauty & would try to spot all the constellations. The stars sometimes frighten her because it reminds her of the future & the great sacrifice she has to make.
